2017 Christmas Card

This has been a crazy year!  Beth and I have spent a lot of time helping my mom and emptying out her house.  She has been in 24 hour care since the beginning of the year and passed away on Thanksgiving.  I normally have my Christmas cards done by August but this year I made them in less than 2 weeks this month!  Not something I want to do again – especially 50 of them.  But, they are done!

The reindeer and “Seasons Greeting” dies are by Simon Says, and the snowflake embossing folder is by Taylor Expressions.  I used up various ribbon and embellishments that I already had, so no card was exactly alike.  Enjoy…

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge “Anything Goes”

I finally made a couple of dog cards for friends that have been asking!  Unfortunately, I mailed one of them before I got a photo!  Anyway, the dog stamp is by Penny Black and was colored with Prismacolor markers.  The paw embossing folder is by Marianne Designs.  I used Crystal Effects to accent the dog’s nose and tag.  I also hand drew the dashes around the dog.

Simon Says Challenge “Stamp It”

My cousin needed a sympathy card for a friend at work who recently lost her dog, so I offered to make one for her.  Who could make someone smile again as well as Snoopy?  The Snoopy stamp is by Stampabilities.  I masked it off and used Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and Chipped Sapphire.  I also put some droplets of Radiant Pearls on it and some dots with a white gel pen.  The embossing folder is by Marianne and the circle die cut is by Sizzix.

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge “Anything Goes” #2

I hadn’t planned to make a 4th of July card but I had an idea in my head that needed to get out!  I used the Tim Holtz stencils “Stars” and “Rays” along with his inks in Candied Apple and Chipped Sapphire.  I just masked off the areas and also embossed it with clear embossing powder.  The word “celebrate” is also a Tim Holtz dies.  Happy 4th!

Getting back to “normal?!

Well, I got busy seriously making cards last year and then we had family move in with us for 4 months (the original plan was 2 months) which kind of turned the house upside down for awhile.  It made card making challenging as I couldn’t just leave everything “out” with a 2 and 5 year old around.  I miss coming home and being hugged at the knees by the 2 year old though!  They finally found a house, got the loan through and we helped them move & get into their new house.  We had a free weekend and it was nice getting the house back to ourselves, and the following Monday I found out my mom had broken her hip.  She is finally home and doing much better.  Did I tell you in the middle of all of this we made the decision to close our office and move the business home?!   Our lease was up at the end of April.  We have a mailhouse and mail out promotion for other companies.  We have been in business for over 20 years!  We plan to continue the business but on a smaller scale and slowly…transition into other businesses.  I want to focus on card making and Beth will be working on various internet businesses.  So, by tomorrow we should take the last load home and we’ll have a home office.  No more commute, double rent/mortgage & utilities, etc.  It is time for a NEW ADVENTURE!
