Simon Says Monday Challenge “Rainbow”

I finished up my Easter cards last weekend and just need to get them addressed and ready to go.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks and did some blending to create a very light pastel watercolor rainbow effect.  The colors I used were Broken China, Spun Sugar and Squeezed Lemonade.  The embossing folder is by We R Memory.  I also water-colored the stamped image using the same inks.  The stamp image was gold heat embossed with Ranger embossing powder.  I cut the image out with a Sizzix circle die and attached it with foam tape.  I used ribbon to tie the two sides together.

Simon Says Stamp “Anything Goes”

I made this card for my mom a couple of weeks ago.  I purchased this rubber stamp unmounted several years ago at a stamp show, and unfortunately I don’t know who made it.  I stamped the image with a Versamark pad and used Hero Arts white embossing powder.  I then water-colored it.  I am still getting the hang of water-coloring but I am happy with the result…

Adult Coloring Books & National Craft Month

When adult coloring books came out I thought it was a cool idea but I already had a long “to do” list, so I didn’t think I could “waste my time” coloring!  Well, I realized it would be a good way to practice coloring blending and techniques that I use for card making!  I have purchased and received various coloring books as gifts over the last year or two, last weekend I finally got around to coloring.  I had heard it was relaxing and surprisingly it was!  I had a great time and was very pleased with the result.  This was done with Tombow markers which are water based…

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge “Anything Goes”

I have been working on getting my dies, stencils, stamps, inks, etc. organized recently.  I die cut a sample of all of my dies and put them in a binder, that way I would know what I have!  Well, when I was using my Simon Says Stamp Wave dies I found that I really liked the reverse cut-out too and when I put them in my binder I really liked the pattern.  So, I used them to create this card!  The wave dies and star dies are from Simon Says Stamp.  The word stamp is by Hero Arts.  I also used a white gel pen for the stitched border and to add some dots.

Simon Says Challenges “Cute” and “Young at Heart”

I was getting ready for Valentine’s Day and it was a great opportunity to use this Penny Black cat stamp!  I masked the paws and added the heart for it to hold.   I colored the cat with Primacolor markers. The dies (hearts & stitched border) and other stamps (words and heart) are from Simon Says Stamp.  I also used Wink of Stella and Crystal Effects on the heart he is holding.  Then finally I added the dash line border with a fine point black pen.

Simon Says Monday Challenge “Trio-Tastic”

I made cards for a client this weekend that wanted to go with a color scheme of red, black and silver.  Apparently her niece is decorating in those colors this year and she decided to surprise her with matching cards.  The embossing folder is by Taylor Expressions and the dies are from Simon Says Stamp.  I die cut all 3 trees actually in 6 different papers – 2 of each color.  I tried foil and glitter papers and also just plain black paper.  My favorites were the foil red and the silver and black (actually more of a dark charcoal) glitter papers.  I mixed and matched them and used foam tape on the center tree to give it some dimension.  Then the whole panel was attached to the card with foam tape for even more dimension.
