Simon Says Monday Challenge “Witch Kraft” #2

Do you ever have one of those days, or this case nights, where you have 2 or 3 ideas for cards but none of them are a complete card?  Well, that was my problem last night.  On top of that, despite all of the paper we have, I didn’t seem to have the color I wanted or at least not enough to make a card.  So, I started with one idea, went to another idea, and in the end came up with this card.  I don’t hate it and I am not sure I even like it, but it is a crazy card and appropriate for the “Witch Kraft” theme!  The spider, green witch and main witch on the card are stamps by Stampin’ Up.  The black cat is by Impression Obsession, Inc. and the purple witch is by Penny Black.  Finally, the black line is part of the new Simon Says set “To Thine Own Shelf”.

Simon Says Monday Challenge “Witch Kraft”

Beth and I have been in the mailing business for over 20 years, so it is no surprise that we have rubber stamps of postage stamps (we also have cross-stitch patterns of postage stamps).  Both of our birthdays are in October and hers is actually on Halloween, so it is even less of a surprise that most of those stamps are Halloween themed.  So, I got them all out and made a card with them!  This week’s Simon Says Monday Challenge theme is “Witch Kraft” and I was surprised how many witches we had!  I knew we had a lot of pumpkins, bats and ghosts but wasn’t aware of all of the witches.  So, we shouldn’t have any problem coming up with 5 cards for this weeks challenge!

On this card it is all stamped.  The bats are by Hero Arts, the witch & cat/pumpkin (green) are by Stamp Rosa.  The spider is by Stamp Mania.  The pumpkin (orange) was by Good Stamps and the bat (purple) was an un-mounted stamp.  We purchased both of these last stamps at Rubberama many years ago.  We look forward to making Halloween stamps!

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge “Back to School” #4

Well, I made the first card and I have really been into black & white with red and thought why not?!  So, here is the same Simon Says stamp set (To Thine Own Shelf) but in black and white with a touch of red.  The black ink is StazOn and the apple was done by coloring the stamp with Marvy Markers.  I put some Stampin’ Up Crystal Effects on the apple.

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge “Back to School” #3

Both of these cards (#3 & #4) are “works in progress”.  I received my first stamp kit from Simon Says yesterday and was inspired to get a couple more cards done for this challenge.  I ran out of time last night and don’t have any time tonight.  So, the cards aren’t quite what I had envisioned & I made some mistakes but you will get the idea.  Both card were done with the Simon Says stamp set ” To Thine Own Shelf”.  On this card I used black StazOn ink, the red ink is StazOn Magic and the rest of the ink is by Stampin’ Up.  I used Stampin’ Us Crystal Effects on the front of the clock, the frame and the plant.  I added some brads for dimension.  It looks like a teacher’s desk to me…

Organization & Inspiration

Saturday morning I was up early and on a mission!  I decided to cut down all of my 12 x 12 cardstock to 8 1/2 x 11 and get it organized.  The containers the paper was in just weren’t ideal and both containers kept falling over and didn’t fit anywhere.  The colors had also gotten mixed in with similar colors and it was just taking too long to find what I was looking for.  Well, it turned into an all weekend long project.

I cut down the paper and organized it by color, like planned.  But then, I decided to get all of my cardstock into one space (I had it in at least 3 different places) and get it all sorted by colors.  I didn’t stop there…next it was the patterned background paper.  Why stop there?!  I moved on to stickers, brads, buttons, eyelets, and other embellishments.  I put dabs of color on my Radiant Pearl jars, so I knew what colors I had without taking the jars out.  I got rid of paper I am never going to use and products that have dried up or I don’t use anymore.

In doing this I became inspired…

I have so many papers and embellishments I have forgotten I had!  Things like porcelain ovals and rounds that you stamp on and embellish to make Christmas ornaments.  I had forgotten how pretty Radiant Pearls are!  They don’t make them anymore but they are like a iridescent paint and came in many colors.  And the brads – hearts, leaves, etc., not mention the eyelets – pumpkins, bunnies, leaves, hearts and more.  I forget about using background paper and have a tendency to make my own with stamps – I have some really cool stuff!

And my paper…wow, I have a lot of paper!  It is all in see-through containers by color order now.  My scrap paper is all in a drawer by color.  Just makes me want to start making cards!

Stained Glass Glitter Butterfly

I entered this card in a challenge for something “sparkly”.  I made the butterfly quite awhile ago in a class but hadn’t made it into a card, so it was great to finally use it.  Unfortunately, I don’t have this stamp so can’t create this exact card again.  The butterfly is all glitter and the process is a bit messy but the results are worth it.  I can create something like it though…

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge “Back to School”

This was a fun card to make.  The apple stamps are by Stampin’ Up.  I stamped the red with Versa Magic “Red Magic”, let is dry and then stamped the apple outline in black StazOn.  I wanted more of a leaf then was with the stamp so I stamped this leaf from a D.O.T.S. (now Close to My Heart) stamp that had a double leaf and cut it down.  I affixed it with a glue dot that I rolled up to give the leaf more dimension.  The “A-B-C” are Mary Engelbreit stickers.  The little girl is a stamp by New Stamp on the Block.  I wanted to add to it so I stamped it on the checkered paper and cut out a dress for her.  When I was done I put a heavy layer of Stampin’ Up Crystal Effects on the red of the apple.

Simon Says Monday Challenge “Anything Goes!” #4

I have always loved this set but haven’t used it in quite awhile.  The stamps are by Stampin’ Up, along with the cloud stencil, inks, etc.  I just used a sponging technique to create the clouds and cut out a piece of paper to make the curves for the sand dunes to use as a stencil.  The black ink is by StazOn.
